I Would like to thank everyone who played a role in my journey here on earth. Way too many people to mention on this little page.

In short I would like to thank my immediate family, Johann, Michelle and Beatriz, who never stopped supporting me from afar, be it financially or just when I needed some moral support.

Dewan and René, thank you for moving closer to me and thank you for assisting with the small little tasks that became more difficult as one grow older and weaker.

My last chapter could have been somewhat a lonely one, with most of my friends and family that's already moved on from this realm, but you two ensured that I always had the necessary company & comfort an elderly need to make their last chapter a more comfortable transition before I left for my forever destination.

To the rest of my family and friends, just know that I appreciate each and everyone of you and if I could have had one more moment with any of you, I would have truly appreciated it.

Then finally to my ex wife, Gerda, thank you for everything you did for me, the only person I ever loved enough to get married to.

Even through our marriage did not work out for the best, I can say that in my heart I was always still married to you and as we have come to realise, the other day when we went to apply for my death certificate at Home Affairs - on paper we're still married too! 😉

Even through I never said this enough, I want to let everyone know that I loved you all tremendously much, and I will miss each and every single one of you.

God Speed on your journey, till we all meet again!

“Dear Dad,

Although it is very difficult for me to accept that you are no longer with us, we will always remember you.

You were a perfectionist, incredibly well-organised, always punctual, had a great sense of humor, and were always willing to talk to me about the latest golf tournament, rugby match, and Grand Prix. But more importantly, you told me countless times how proud you were of me, which I will never forget. I will continue making you proud. Michelle and Beatriz always spoke fondly of you.

I remember when Beatriz was still a little girl and couldn't stop laughing while playing with your tummy one evening (and she kept saying that you had a very big tummy).

Your love for music rubbed off on me and is definitely the reason why I’m such a huge fan of music (and Michelle knows this very well because I frequently tell her that my love for music came from you).

You instilled many positive traits and strengths within me.

“My liefste boetjie Chris,

dit is met groot hartseer dat ek vandag vir jou totsiens sê.

Ek sien jou in die Hemel, omring met diere en duiwe, jou passie hier op aarde.

Jy was altyd so n perfeksionis in jou huis en tuin. Ek het altyd hier onder jou afdak so lekker gekuier, en vleis gebraai, wat Dewan met soveel moeite vir ons gebraai het.

Ek weet jy is nou waar jy moet wees, sonder lying en pyn.

Ek gaan jou mis, sê hello vir ma, Veon en Amanda Rus sag.

PS. Dewan, ek wil net uit die diepte van my hart vir jou dankie sê, vir wat jy alles vir jou pa gedoen het. As jy nie daar was toe hy soveel keer siek geword het, weet ek nie wat van hom sou geword het nie.

Baie dankie.”

Dit was 'n Groot voorreg om jou in my lewe te kon hé.

Hoe sal ek ooit vergeet hoe jy as Hoërskool seun, duiwe in die buitekamer aan gehou het. Ek onthou steeds hoe ek as jong seuntjie, buite om jou rond gespeel het, toe die "onderstebo" honde kosbak skielik langs my beweeg het. 😱 (soos 'n skilpad) "Needless to say" het jy as ouboet, tot my redding gekom, en so ook jou arme duif gered wat per ongeluk onder die kosbak beland het.

Van daardie oomblik af was ek, nes jy, in murg en been ñ duiweboer.....

"Chrisjan" ek het soveel mooi herhinderinge van ons, wat my altyd sal by bly.

Gaan jou geweldig mis!
